Jeju Island
-

For a short Jeju trip, I would fly and rent a car. For a longer Korea road trip, bringing your own car by ferry can make sense. The real advantage is flexibility.
-

Some of my most memorable Jeju scenes were never destinations at all. They were the coast, roads and volcanic landscapes I stopped for along the way.
-

Jeju is more than beaches. Forest paths, oreum and inland walking routes can make a rental-car day feel completely different from the coast.
-

Jeju golf looks beautiful, but the wind and the so-called Hallasan break can make the round much harder than the scenery suggests.
-

Dagumbari is one of Korea’s premium sashimi choices, but the real experience is the whole table: seafood, sauces, ssam, and a clear fish soup at the end.
-

Jeju pork is more than black pork BBQ. Here are the gogi-guksu, dombe-gogi and pork-fat-grilled gosari I remember from local meals on the island.
-

I brought my own car to Jeju by ferry and drove from Hyeopjae Beach to Sinchang, Sanbangsan, and Yakcheonsa. For me, the best part of driving in Jeju is not how many places you can see, but being able to stop whenever somewhere catches your eye.
